Clasp check
A clasp that hesitates is already a repair. The rest of the note is how we do that in the studio.
A hinge that sticks, or a lobster that needs two hands, will fail on a day out. Test it at the table, not at the door. A post bends at the back. A toggle stretches the ring it passes through. Look at the part that moves, not only the part you see.
Open and close the clasp once before the piece goes away.

Posts and toggles wear in different places.

Clasp check is a note from the studio, not a rule for every house. The pieces in this edit were finished with this habit in mind.
If a piece you have does not match the note, send a question with the name of the piece. The reply is more useful than a general rule.
An inquiry is the way to ask. Nothing on this page is a charge.
Keep the habit small enough that it happens. That is the care these pieces were made for.
