Bowl glaze

Bowl glaze

A glaze should feel even under the thumb, inside and out. The rest of the note is how we do that in the studio.

A sharp spot on the rim is a flaw, not a charm. The inside should be as finished as the face you see. Fine lines in the glaze can be the material. A chip is not. Send a photograph if you are unsure.

Run a finger around the rim before you serve from it.

Glaze crazes. That is the clay and the glass moving.

Bowl glaze is a note from the studio, not a rule for every house. The pieces in this edit were finished with this habit in mind.

If a piece you have does not match the note, send a question with the name of the piece. The reply is more useful than a general rule.

An inquiry is the way to ask. Nothing on this page is a charge.

Keep the habit small enough that it happens. That is the care these pieces were made for.
