A collar should sit on the neck, not float above it. The rest of the note is how we do that in the studio.
Button the collar on the body, not on a hanger. The band is the fit. The points are the look. An open collar still has to fit the neck it sits on. A band that gapes will not improve when it is unbuttoned.
If you can fit two fingers all the way around, it is loose.
